NFL star Trent Williams’ wife Sondra opens up about family tragedy

“It was extremely difficult to process the saddest hello and goodbye I have ever endured,” the NFL pro’s wife wrote on social media. “Last Sunday evening on 11/24/24; At 11:38 p.m. I greeted your lifeless 4 pound 8 ounce 18.5 inch long little body. At just 35 weeks, your impressive and rapid arrival didn’t even give you time to get an epidural. I am so grateful to have had your aunt Katina (who also cut your umbilical cord) and your nurse Hannah by my side.”

She added: “As much as I tried to prepare for our meeting, I was not prepared and never would be. After you lost your twin early in pregnancy, I prayed and hoped that your diagnosis of Trisomy 13 was not true and would not be the fate of my long-awaited beautiful son-Shine.”

“My firstborn and only son, I always wanted you, but God wanted and needed you more. Knowing that you are with your great aunt Vivian in heaven and will always be our guardian angel brings me great comfort in the midst of all this grief. My heart is heavy. Being home without you in my arms has been quite an adjustment. “Knowing that I will never be able to watch you grow older along with your sisters fills my eyes with tears,” she continued.

Trent and Sondra Williams share three young daughters. The 49ers’ star player spent last week in the hospital following the heartbreaking tragedy.

NFL coach releases statement

According to NFL.com, coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday, “He was at the hospital with her and got to meet him and say goodbye.” Then he had to cremate him on Friday. He has dealt with it and is working on it. But we all just have to be here and try to get him through all of this.” In addition to the recently announced sad news, the 49ers OT was forced to sit out the team’s last two games due to an ankle injury.

As the Williams family is struck by a tragic Thanksgiving event, it is the second loss of a child for the 49ers team this season.

In October, Charvarius Ward spoke out about the death of his 1-year-old daughter, Armani Joy.
