NFL results: Bills win shootout over Lions, Eagles dominate Steelers

Week 15 was marked by two big duels. In the first game, the Eagles defeated the Steelers 27:13. Jalen Hurts threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns. AJ Brown had eight passes for 110 yards while DeVonta Smith caught 11 passes for 109 yards. Each receiver scored a TD.

Pittsburgh finished with 10:29 left in the final game and had 21 plays on its last possession.

In what many viewed as a preview of the Super Bowl, the Bills won a shootout over the Lions 48-35. As expected, Buffalo had little trouble scoring against a struggling and undermanned Detroit defense.

Josh Allen threw for 362 yards with two TDs and also rushed for two scores. James Cook also ran for two touchdowns with his 105 yards rushing. Jared Goff rushed for 494 yards and five touchdowns and Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 14 passes for 93 yards. But the Lions had to come back from a 14-0 deficit and were never able to recover.

Detroit falls to 12-2 and is now tied with the Eagles for the best NFC record. The Vikings could match them with a win over the Bears on Monday night.

The Broncos also strengthened their playoff position with a 31-13 victory over the Colts, overcoming three interceptions by Bo Nix. And the Buccaneers may have wrapped up the NFC South with a 40-17 win over the Chargers, led by Baker Mayfield’s four touchdown passes.

Here’s how the late window of Week 15 NFL games played out in Yahoo Sports’ live blog with game updates, highlights and more.

  • Lions within 10 again

Detroit scores again, completing a 70-yard drive with a 1-yard TD run by Jahmyr Gibbs. After the extra point, the Lions are only 45-35.

Maybe Dan Campbell had to take a risk because his defense wasn’t stopping the Bills. But was that onside kick (and subsequent touchdown) worth it?

  • Another Colts turnover

Anthony Richardson throws his second interception, which is blocked by Pat Surtain. This turnover was not returned for a touchdown, but it hurt the Colts’ chances of a comeback.

  • Bills make Lions pay for taking risks

Dan Campbell’s call for an onside kick looks even worse after Josh Allen hit Ray Davis with a 5-yard bootleg for a touchdown.

Buffalo takes a 45-28 lead with 11:51 left.

  • Dan Campbell’s gamble backfires

After their touchdown with twelve minutes left in the fourth period, the Lions decided to use an onside kick.

So much for a patriot rally. The Cardinals follow New England’s TD with a 70-yard drive, capped off by another score from James Conner.

  • Nik Bonitto with the steal and the score

The Colts attempt a skip pass to Adonai Mitchell, who attempts to throw back to Anthony Richardson. But Denver’s Nik Bonitto enters the passing lane like a guard making a steal in basketball and returns the fumble 50 yards for a touchdown.

Just like that, the Broncos lead Indianapolis by two points.

  • Broncos take a 17-13 lead

After a 61-yard punt return by Marvin Mims, Bo Nix hit Nate Adkins for a 15-yard catch and run, giving Denver the lead over the Colts.

  • The Eagles extend their lead to 27-13

Jalen Hurts ends a 74-yard drive with a 1-yard TD run on the Brotherly Shove.
