NFL scout explains why Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart is a ‘huge bargain’ in the 2025 draft class

Jaxson Dart and the Ole Miss Rebels emerged with a statement win in the 2024-2025 season. The Rebels defeated the Duke Blue Devils mercilessly on national television, winning their Gator Bowl match 52-20. Dart torched the Blue Devil secondary while taking some heavy hits from his first seven opponents. He completed 27 of his 35 passes for 404 yards and threw four touchdowns Thursday night.

And although Dart hasn’t received quite as much praise as other quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle Cam Ward And Shedeur SandersAn NFL scout placed a lot of value on the Ole Miss quarterback in the run-up to the 2025 NFL Draft.

“He will be a real steal in the draft. He throws the ball around the field as well as anyone, which I think is a lost skill in today’s game, but that’s what makes him interesting. Get Dart some speed guys and he can really hurt you,” said one scout who spoke to Fox Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.

He also managed 43 yards in the ground game on Thursday night. Dart’s outstanding performance was nothing new. In three years at Ole Miss, he became the program’s all-time scoring leader, surpassing the longtime record holder Eli Manning.

Jaxson Dart finished the 2024 season with 4,279 passing yards and 29 touchdowns while completing nearly 70% of his pass attempts. Now Dart hopes his success carries over to the next level. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. listed Dart as the No. 7 quarterback in this year’s draft class latest NFL Draft Big Board.

Dart finished his successful SEC career by ranking fourth all-time in SEC history in total offense. He trails only three players, Georgia’s Aaron Murray (13,562 yards), Missouri’s Drew Lock (12,630 yards) and Florida’s Tim Tebow (12,232 yards). Dart becomes just the fourth player in SEC history to reach more than 12,000 yards in a career.

Dart also broke Chad Kelly’s single-season passing yards record (4,042 passing yards) and his total offense record (4,542 total yards), both set in 2015.
