NFL Thanksgiving schedule: TV channels, start times

Thanksgiving is here, giving you a great opportunity to devour some turkey – and some pigskin.

A triple NFL football tournament awaits in 2024, starting with the Detroit Lions hosting the Chicago Bears at Ford Field. The Lions have a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win and a little help this weekend, while the Bears look to end their five-game stalemate.

Late in the afternoon, the NFC East rivals will battle it out with a less savory quarterback duel. The Dallas Cowboys host the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium as the two teams battle to avoid the division’s cellar. Cooper Rush will shoot for Dallas, while the Giants will go with Drew Lock.

In the dessert spot, the hot Miami Dolphins travel to freezing Lambeau Field, where temperatures are expected to drop below freezing for the match. That could spell disaster for Tua Tagovailoa, who has struggled in cold-weather games — or it could prove to be a big primetime surprise for Jordan Love and the Packers.

Three games are scheduled to begin on Thanksgiving Day:

The Lions will defend their home opener against the Bears on Thanksgiving. The Bears enter with a five-game losing streak and are coming off two divisional losses to the Packers and Vikings. The Lions can secure a spot in the playoffs with a win and some support this weekend.

By late afternoon it could have been Dak Prescott versus Daniel Jones, but Prescott will miss the rest of the season and Jones is now a Viking after being released by the Giants. Instead, the Cowboys will turn to Cooper Rush while the Giants turn to Drew Lock following an injury to Tommy DeVito.

Dolphins passer Tua Tagovailoa has been red-hot since returning from a concussion earlier this season, throwing 11 touchdowns in five games. However, the cold weather may cool the quarterback down, and the Packers still have a lot of work to do heading into this matchup.
