NFL Week 16 Results: Jets lose 19-9 after Rams explode for 13 points in the 4th quarter

For a brief time on Sunday, it looked like the New York Jets were finally on the right track. The connection between Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams was stronger than ever. Rodgers showed off a move or two that looked like it came from a younger version of himself. The Jets held the ball for nearly 16 straight minutes, from the end of the 2nd quarter through the first half of the third quarter. After three complete quarters, they were ahead of the Los Angeles Rams 9-6.

And then, as they often do, things fell apart for the Jets. Despite holding the ball for so long, they only managed to score three points against the Rams in that time. Rodgers and Adams had some communication issues. Rodgers became more and more nervous as the game went on.

In the fourth quarter, the Rams exploded and the game really went the Jets’ way. Or to put it another way: The Rams scored 13 points in the final quarter (a touchdown plus a field goal), while the Jets couldn’t even score a field goal in the entire second half. The Rams won 19-9 and the Jets can only reflect on the missed opportunities to get a meaningful win over a competitive team. But the positive is that they only have two games left.
