NHL player props and best bets today for 12-11: Great power, great responsibility

Owen Power is quarterback of the Sabers power play while Rasmus Dahlin is on IR. He’s in a fantastic position to cash in on his assists prop tonight against the Rangers.

There are only two games in action tonight with four losing teams.

I’m taking a close look at the D-men tonight as the differences in these games are big and depend on how inconsistent the clubs are playing. There might be some shooting or unexploded bombs tonight, so I’ll have to buy some larger props for more money on a quiet evening.

These are my three favorite NHL player props for Wednesday, December 11th.

Today’s NHL props picks and best bets

Prop Bet #1: Owen Power over 0.5 assists

+150 at bet365

With Rasmus Dahlin still out, former first overall pick Owen Power is once again leading the Buffalo Sabers’ power play against the New York Rangers, who are 2-8 SU in their last 10 games and just two games shy of a 7 -5-defeat away. Things are looking bleak for both franchises and this could be another ugly game for a number of clubs that have disappointed all year.

Power has logged significant minutes since his rise to the top spot on the power play, notching an assist in consecutive games while putting six shots on net. There’s chaos all around the Rangers, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sabers break their seven-game losing streak with the help of Power behind them.

That’s a huge +150 price tag for a PP1 D-Man getting 25+ minutes of ice time. The books still overvalue the Rangers and head coach Peter Laviolette might be out of a job tomorrow. I also like Powers 3+ SOG at +205 as his role isn’t fully priced in yet and the Rangers can take a lot of shots.

Prop Bet #2: Olen Zellweger Over 0.5 Power Play Points

+525 at bet365

The Anaheim Ducks are a good road dog tonight against the Ottawa Senators. Anaheim has been the better team in terms of points over the last 30 days, with Ottawa ranking 28th in that span. Anaheim may not have the best offense in the league, but this game could be sloppy and potentially high-scoring considering how poor the Sens’ power play was.

It is the No. 27 PK player in the last 30 days at a rate of 70%, and in the last seven games, Ottawa has allowed seven power play goals on 16 opportunities. The Ducks have a great PP matchup tonight and QB, Olen Zellweger, should take advantage.

Getting a PP1 point player at +500 or better for one point is a prize I find difficult to pass up. It should be around +400 at most, and today the odds are bound to be lower. The young defender doesn’t fill the penalty area to capacity and plays about 20 minutes per game, but 40% of his points this year have come on the power play and I’m hoping that both sides can finish things off tonight with the addition of an attacker.

In a game that is difficult to predict and where both teams lose, I’m looking for some big plus-money action in a game with a lot of variance.

Prop Bet #3: Owen Power + Adam Fox + Olen Zellweger + Jake Sanderson Over 1.5 strokes each

+564 at DraftKings

I really like D to contribute tonight and that goes for shots on goal too. My favorite is Power 3+ SOG at +230, with Jake Sanderson 3+ SOG close behind at +145, but all four of these PP1 QBs can put pucks on net in these matchups as the Rangers and Ducks allow more shots on goal than almost every other team in ice hockey. Buffalo and Ottawa are anything but good defensive teams and have a combined losing record in their last 10 games.

There’s not much I want to pay taxes on today as the four teams have all ranked in the bottom half of the league in point% over the last 30 days. It’s a good day to make a breakthrough as both games are likely to be competitive and have the potential for two-way scoring/offense. This is a collection of four of the worst teams in hockey today, and poor form can easily indicate a lack of defense.

You should also shop around for these games as bet365 has odds of around +500 for the same game.
