Nico Iamaleava finds the end zone to reduce the deficit against Ohio State

Nico Iamaleava found the end zone with 20 seconds left in the first half to reduce Tennessee’s deficit before halftime.

Thanks to Iamaleava’s outstanding result, the Vols went into halftime only trailing 21:10. The Vols won the second quarter 10-0 after allowing the Buckeyes to score a touchdown on all three first quarter possessions.

His 2-yard rushing score came at the end of a much-needed 16-play, 79-yard drive for Tennessee. Here is a repeat:

Tennessee fell behind 21-0 after the first quarter against the Buckeyes. However, on Ohio State’s next possession, the Vols intercepted Will Howard in the end zone to regain some momentum. Tennessee scored points on its final two drives of the half after having very little success in the first quarter.

It was a tough start for Iamaleava as a passer. He completed just 7 of 16 passes for 81 yards in the first half. It’s worth noting that Tennessee playmakers Dylan Sampson and Squirrel White are both dealing with injuries in this contest and are limited to this point in the game.

Tennessee is playing its first college football playoff game.
