Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic headline the Mavericks-Nuggets injury report

The Dallas Mavericks will play the first of two straight home games against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night, looking to build a winning streak after two straight wins against the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. However, there are many star talents who are questionable or ruled out for this game.

Luka Doncic remains sidelined with a calf strain he suffered on Christmas Day, although he suffered shots during training. His first re-evaluation date on January 25th is less than two weeks away, but it’s hard to imagine he’ll be at 100% by then.

Kyrie Irving is also out with a bulging disc in his back, but a video of him training this weekend has surfaced and it looks like he’s about to hit the ground running. His original time frame was listed as 1-2 weeks, and Monday would be the one week mark since the injury was announced.

It’s “likely” Nikola Jokic is sick despite playing in the last game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Jamal Murray (left knee soreness) and Aaron Gordon (right calf strain) are both questionable, leaving the Nuggets with three key starters who are doubtful about playing in Sunday’s game.

DaRon Holmes II suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the preseason while Vlatko Cancar is recovering from knee surgery.
