“Nitish Kumar Reddy creates confusion in Team India”: Former chief selector questions role of all-rounder

MSK Prasad, who worked as the senior team’s chief selector, has questioned Nitish Kumar Reddy’s role in the playing XI. He feels the all-rounder creates confusion as he is not a complete batsman and bowler who cannot win games due to both his skills.

The former player wants the team management to prefer a special player over Reddy. He was commentating on Day 2 of the fourth Test when Steve Smith and Pat Cummins were strong with the bat and India struggled to break the partnership.

“Nitish Kumar Reddy is creating confusion in Team India. He is not a complete batter and bowler and cannot win games for the team with his skills. It would have been better to include specialized players.

“I think Shubman Gill should have been part of the playing eleven in the fourth Test but it seems the management was more worried about the batting part and the inclusion of Washington Sundar. There was no need for two spinners and Harshit Rana or Prasidh Krishna would have been a better option,” he added.

He is not the only one to question the team composition as several other ex-players felt that Shubman deserved to take part in the game. Meanwhile, Nitish has done well as a batter in the lower league and is the only player after KL Rahul to make important contributions.
