No. 6 Huskies travel to St. John’s on Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. – The sixth-ranked UConn women’s basketball team (915-2, 6-0 BIG EAST) will face St. John’s (11-5, 1-4) at Carnesecca Arena on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).

PhD student Azzi Fudd scored 21 points and had five three-pointers to lead UConn past Georgetown 73-55 last Saturday in Washington, D.C. Fudd scored 12 points in the second half and went 4-6 from three points. Freshmen Sarah Strong had 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Strong was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday for the sixth time this season. Strong averaged 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game in two wins last week.

The Huskies are 49-18 all-time against St. John’s. This will be the first time UConn will play at Carnesecca Arena since the 2021-22 season.

St. John’s is coming off a 60-39 win over Xavier last Saturday. This season, Lashae Dwyer leads the Red Storm with 14.7 points per game. Head coach Joe Tartamella is in his 13th season with St. John’s.

The Huskies return to Gampel Pavilion this Sunday to host Seton Hall for the first time since December 3rd. Limited tickets are still available HERE.
