No. 7 UConn faces Georgetown on Saturday

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 7 UConn women’s basketball team (14-2, 5-0 BIG EAST) travels to Washington, D.C. to take on Georgetown (8-7, 1-3) at the Entertainment & Sports Arena on Saturday at 4 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (The River 105.9).

PhD student Azzi Fudd scored a season-high 23 points and three steals to lead UConn past Xavier 81-27 on Wednesday. Freshmen Allie Ziebell came off the bench and scored his personal best with 17 points. The Huskies scored 42 points off turnovers and had 36 points in the paint.

The Huskies are 55-6 all-time against Georgetown. UConn has won the last 38 meetings between the teams. Fudd’s mother, Katie, played at Georgetown from 1998 to 2001.

A native of Arlington, Virginia, Fudd attended St. John’s College High School in Washington, DC as a sophomore Qadence Samuels is from Forestville, Maryland, about nine miles from the Entertainment & Sports Arena.

The Huskies and Hoyas previously faced off on December 15th at the XL Center. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers scored 24 points and led UConn to a 79-44 win.

Georgetown lost to Villanova 77-62 on Wednesday. This season, Kelsey Ransom leads Georgetown in scoring with 20.6 points per game. Darnell Haney is in his first season as head coach at Georgetown.
