STORRS, Conn. – The seventh-ranked UConn women’s basketball team (13-2, 4-0 BIG EAST) will face Xavier (5-9, 0-3) on Wednesday at the XL Center at 7:30 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (The River 105.9).

UConn will celebrate Pride Night on Wednesday to honor the LGBTQ+ community. The Hartford Gay Men’s Chorus will sing the national anthem and the team will wear special shooting jerseys. There will be a table upstairs in Section 124 at UConn’s Rainbow Center.

UConn outscores BIG EAST competition by an average of +31.0 points per game. The Huskies lead the conference in points offense, points defense, scoring margin, field goal percentage and assists per game.

Freshmen Sarah Strong scored 21 points last Sunday to lead UConn past Villanova 83-52. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers had 15 points and a season-high nine assists as a sophomore KK Arnold had her second straight double-digit scoring season with 15 points.

UConn is 8-0 all-time against Xavier. This will be the only meeting between the two teams this season, as UConn only plays Xavier and Butler once each.

The Huskies outscored the Wildcats in the paint 48-8. UConn posted a season-high 30 assists on 35 made field goals, led by Bueckers with nine assists.

Xavier lost to DePaul 65-60 last Thursday. This season, Meri Kanerva leads Xavier with 11.2 points per game. Head coach Billi Chambers is in her second season at Xavier.
