HAMDEN, Conn. – No. 9/7 Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey will compete in the Nutmeg Classic this weekend, hosted by Sacred Heart University at the Martire Family Arena in Fairfield, Connecticut, after winning the Trophy at Yale a season ago.

SCOUTING Sacred Heart

  • Sacred Heart is 11-3-0 with wins over RPI, Saint Anselm, Stonehill, LIU, Assumption, Saint Michael’s and Franklin Pierce.
  • SHU is led by head coach Thomas O’Malley.
  • Isabella Chaput leads the Pioneers with eight goals and three assists.
  • QU is 16-0 against SHU since 2002.

NATIONAL LEADERS

  • QU’s penalty kill currently ranks fifth nationally at 90.1 percent.
  • The Bobcats are also currently the nation’s first team shutouts with eight goaltenders Kaley Doyle (5) and Felicia Frank (3).
  • Doyle is also tied for the national lead in shutouts with five players. She currently ranks among the top five scorers nationally in goals against average (1.16) and save percentage (.948).
  • Maddy Samoskevich He is also tied for sixth in the country with four power play goals.

COOP’S CHASIN’ STORY

  • Bobcat captain Kendall Cooper currently ranks 8th all-time with 105 passing points Nicole Connery ’16.
  • Cooper also narrowly passed Reilly last weekend to take third place on the all-time assists list, currently sitting at 74.

CORNELL COLGATE

  • The Bobcats played to a 3-3 draw against Cornell on Friday night, with Watson, Lamarche and Prier each scoring.
  • On Saturday, QU lost 4-1 to No. 5 Colgate. Kendall Cooper scored the only goal for the Bobcats.

PLAY WITH A GOAL

  • QU defeated both Dartmouth and Harvard this weekend, 2-1 (OT) and 1-0.
  • On Friday evening, Laurence Frenette scored the game-winning goal with 2:15 left and the extra attacker was out for the Bobcats.
  • Jenna Donohue sent the Bobcats home with an OT game-winner after 45 seconds.
  • On Saturday, Kendall Cooper scored the Bobcats’ only goal in the third period and Kaley Doyle made 15 saves for the shutout.
  • QU also earned a 1-0 win over LIU in last Tuesday’s game.
  • Kendall Cooper Blow Bald Lamarche for the game winner in the first third.

COOPER AWARDED DEFENDER OF THE WEEK

  • After noting an assist Jenna Donohues He won the overtime game at Dartmouth and scored the only goal in QU’s 1-0 win over Harvard. Kendall Cooper was named ECAC Hockey’s Defenseman of the Week on Tuesday, November 12th.

TWO TOP TEN WINES

  • The Bobcats defeated No. 5 Clarkson and No. 7 St. Lawrence last weekend by a combined score of 6-1.
  • Kathryn Stockdale scored the winning goal against Clarkson Jenna Donohue scored two goals against St. Lawrence.

DOYLE GETS THIRD ECAC HOCKEY GOAL OF THE WEEK

  • goalkeeper Kaley Doyle made 52 saves and allowed just one goal this weekend to secure ECAC honors for the third time this season.

CLOSING OPENING ECAC WEEKEND

  • On Friday night, the Bobcats lost 2-1 in overtime to Brown in their first ECAC game.
  • Jenna Donohue scored her first goal of the season in the loss.
  • On Saturday afternoon, QU tied Yale 1-1 and picked up a shootout victory.
  • Taylor Brueske scored her first collegiate goal in the loss.

Return home via Syracuse

  • Last weekend, the Bobcats defeated Syracuse 8-1 in two games in Hamden.
  • Maya Labad She scored four goals over the weekend, including her first career hat trick in Saturday’s contest, and earned ECAC Forward of the Week honors.
  • Felicia Frank picked up their second straight shutout in Friday’s 4-0 win.
  • Makayla Watson provided three assists in the two games.

Bobcats split with Providence

  • In the first half of the home game against Providence last Tuesday night, QU struck late and won 1-0.
  • Maddy Samoskevich ripped a shot from the slot with less than four minutes left to secure the win for the Bobcats.
  • First-year goalkeeper Felicia Frank made 23 saves in her first collegiate start, shutting out the Friars.
  • In the second home game a week later, the Bobcats lost 3-2 in Providence, Rhode Island.
  • Kendall Cooper And Emerson Jarvis scored for the Bobcats.

BUNCE BACK VICTORY OVER NORTH HEASTERN

  • After a 4-2 loss on Friday night, the Bobcats bounced back to win 3-0 over the Huskies.
  • Kaley Doyle posted her third shutout of the season and made 28 saves.
  • Maya Labad maintained her scoring presence and scored the first goal of the Bobcats’ three in Saturday’s win.

DOMINANT VICTORIES OVER MAINE

  • The Bobcats defeated Maine 11-0 in their first weekend series against the Black Bears.
  • Kaley Doyle made a combined 44 saves.
  • Maya Labad And Bald Lamarche They got four points each at the weekend.

LABAD AND DOYLE AWARDED FOR ECAC WEEKLY AWARDS

  • After a dominant weekend Kaley Doyle was named ECAC Hockey’s MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week Maya Labad was named Striker of the Week.
  • Doyle made 44 saves for the first consecutive shutouts of her career.
  • Labad scored the seventh multi-goal game of her career before adding another on Saturday afternoon.

SAMOS NEW LOOK

  • Former Bobcat defender Maddy Samoskevich promoted to striker and changed her number from No. 7 to No. 11 ahead of the 2024/25 season.
  • Her older sister, former Bobcat captain Melissa Samoskevich ’19, wore No. 11 during her time at Quinnipiac.

7th place in the polls

  • The Bobcats were ranked No. 7 nationally in each of the most recent national polls and in the preseason (USCHO & USA Hockey).

STRONG PLAYBACK

  • The Bobcats will return two of their top three scorers as well as seven of the top 15 players from a year ago.
  • Bald Lamarche In her rookie season, she led the field scoring 11 goals and providing 23 assists for 34 points Kendall Cooper was right behind her with 33 points.
  • Maya Labad (27 points), Maddy Samoskevich (21 points), Sophie Urban (12 points), Zoe Uens (11 points) and Emerson Jarvis (8 points) round out the returnees with the highest points.

NEW FACES, THE SAME GOAL

QU REVEALS CAPTAIN

  • Graduate defense attorney Kendall Cooper will serve as captain of the Bobcats and resigned from her position as assistant captain a season ago.
  • She is joined by strikers with university degrees Maddy Samoskevich And Sophie Urban who announced their return to Hamden in the spring.

LAST YEAR (2023-24)

  • The Bobcats recently completed an outstanding 2023-24 season with a third straight season of 25 or more wins.
  • QU finished 5th in the ECAC, earning a home game in the opening round playoff format, where they defeated Harvard 9-0.
  • Kate Reilly And Kendall Cooper were named to the All-ECAC Third Team for their performance on the ice. Reilly led the Bobcats with 39 total points (10 goals, 29 assists). Cooper was also a weapon in the offensive zone with 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists).
  • Bald Lamarche was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team after finishing second on last year’s squad in points (11 goals, 23 assists). She was named ECAC Rookie of the Week twice and ECAC Rookie of the Month in December.
