After YesMadam’s controversial layoffs related to an employee stress survey, magicpin’s campaign to hire affected workers was praised on LinkedIn.

A viral email claimed that home beauty startup YesMadam fired employees after they revealed in an internal survey that they were under extreme stress. The news sparked widespread outrage on social media, particularly on LinkedIn, where professionals were stunned to see the company using a survey to conduct mass layoffs.

Amid the backlash, shopping and delivery app magicpin has launched a new campaign on LinkedIn inviting laid-off employees to join the company. “This campaign was done without any stress,” wrote Madhav Sharma, Creative Director at magicpin while sharing the ad.

The post showed two people wearing helmets and holding signs. One of them said: “No, madam. Stressed employees can perform! Because it’s important to them.” The other said “magicpin invites laid-off employees to join across departments” and the email ID for sending resumes.

LinkedIn users were impressed by the initiative, calling it a “phenomenal marketing strategy.” “You call this “aapda ko avsar me badalna”. Great initiative from the creative team at Magicpin. Of course, they won’t hire every laid-off YesMadam employee, but even if they hired 4-5 employees, it would still be “An amazing job by them,” one of the comments says.

What happened at YesMadam?

A YesMadam employee shared a screenshot of the alleged email, claiming she was among about 100 employees laid off.

“What’s happening at YesMadam? First you do a sample survey and then fire us overnight because we feel stressed? And not just me, but 100 other people were fired too,” she wrote.

The HR manager’s email stated: “We recently conducted a survey to understand your feelings about workplace stress. Many of you shared your concerns, which we deeply appreciate and respect. To ensure that no one remains stressed in the workplace, we have made the difficult decision to separate employees who have reported significant distress. The affected employees will be informed separately. Thank you for your contributions.
