The North Little Rock Community Center announced Friday that it will open a warming center area at 6 p.m. every evening from Jan. 5 to 10 to provide a meal and indoor space for people in need of shelter from the cold.

Visitors can bring their own snacks, drinks and entertainment items (such as books, cards or games) as well as pets. Vending machines are available.

If a business, nonprofit or religious organization would like to contribute by providing meals to the warming center, they can contact Officer Shana Cobbs at (501) 975-8780.

The center is located at 2700 North Willow Street in North Little Rock.

The news of the warming center comes as the National Weather Service said a cold front is moving into Arkansas, with temperatures well below normal for the week.
