Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans chanted “We want Georgia” during ESPN’s “College GameDay.” GameDay interviewed Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart as Notre Dame fans started the chant.

Of course, No. 7 Notre Dame must beat No. 10 Indiana in the first round of the College Football Playoff to play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in the playoff quarterfinals.

Kirby Smart is 2-0 against Notre Dame in his career as Georgia head coach, so Notre Dame fans should be careful what they wish for. Yes, Notre Dame wants to win to advance to the next round, but the last thing they need to do is give Georgia any extra motivation.

“Well, they have to worry about their first game first, that’s for sure,” Kirby Smart said. “We have to take care of ourselves. This is the most important thing we have to do. We have to improve ourselves and we have worked really hard here.”

GameDay host Rece Davis cheered on the Notre Dame fans. “Kirby, they were chanting that they wanted Georgia. I’m not sure they want that. (Notre Dame is) winless all-time against the Bulldogs,” Davis said.
