Notre Dame fans threw beer onto the field to protest the Orange Bowl’s DPI call

Notre Dame fans expressed their anger over a defensive pass interference call during Thursday night’s Orange Bowl by throwing beer onto the field at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

After Penn State quarterback Drew Allar threw a costly interception in the fourth quarter of the College Football Playoff semifinals, officials waved off Allar’s mistake by citing Notre Dame safety Adon Shuler for defensive pass interference.

Penn State scored a touchdown shortly after the Shuler penalty.

According to a video from ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe, some Notre Dame fans responded to the big call by throwing beer onto the field.

Throwing beer on the field isn’t a good way for fans to express their frustration, but it certainly didn’t stop these fans from doing so.
