NYC Crime: 10 people shot by multiple gunmen outside a Queens nightclub; no arrests

JAMAICA, Queens (WABC) — An active investigation was underway Thursday morning as police tried to track down three to four men who were shooting into a crowd in Queens.

It occurred in front of the Amazura nightclub on 144th Square and injured 10 people.

More than 30 bullet markers were located on the street and detectives searched every inch of the frozen crime scene.

A private event with around 90 people was taking place in the room when bullets flew around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Among the panicked crowd were six women and four men between the ages of 16 and 20 who were injured in the shooting.

The NYPD said it was a dangerous scene because about 30 shots were fired before the suspects escaped in a gray Infiniti with foreign license plates.

“Four men walked toward the venue, three to four men began shooting more than 30 times toward people outside the venue, striking multiple victims,” said NYPD Patrol Chief Philip Rivera. “There is zero tolerance for these senseless shootings, these acts of violence. Those responsible will be brought to justice.”

Police say it is not an act of terrorism and they are investigating whether the mass shooting may have been gang-related.

All injured victims are expected to survive.
