It’s Wednesday and you know what that means: it’s time for another round Connections!

A quick heads up for the gamers out there: today is the latest Day of the Devs event. It takes place a few times a year and is always a great showcase of indie games. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me this time. You can watch it on Twitch and YouTube starting at 12pm ET.

Today NYT Connections Hints and answers for Wednesday, December 11th will follow soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular one New York Times daily pun. You will receive a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on that NYT Website or gaming app.

You will be presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to divide them into four groups of four by figuring out the connections between them. The groups can be items you can click on, names of research participants, or words preceded by a body part.

Each puzzle has only one solution, and you have to be careful when it comes to words that could fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps better see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often contains puns.

Select four words that you think go together and click Send. If you guess and are wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to finding the right group, you may see a message saying you’re one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which word to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure that this doesn’t happen with the help of some tips, and if you really find it difficult, even with today’s ones Connections Answer. Like with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have one NYT You can access the publications with the All Access or Games subscription Connections Archive. This includes every previous game from Connectionsso you can go back and play any songs you missed.

Aside from the first 60 or so games, you should be able to find my clues for each grid via Google if you need to! Simply click here and enter the date of the game for which you need hints or answers to the search query.

What are today’s connection solutions?

This is your final warning!

Today Connections Answers are…

  • Yellow Group – Utopia (PARADISE, SEVENTH HEAVEN, SHANGRI-LA, XANADU)
  • Green Group – Things you shake (HAIR SPRAY, MAGIC 8 BALL, SALAD DRESSING, SNOW GLOBE)
  • Blue group – portmanteaux of the proper name (JAZZERCISE, PARALYMPICS, POKÉMON, WIKIPEDIA)
  • Purple group – ending with synonyms for “friend” (KETCHUM, PAYPAL, PRIMATE, ROSEBUD)

And just like that, my streak of 13 wins is over. This is what happened to me:

A very interesting collection of words today! At least I was able to fend off the yellow ones quickly.

I thought there might be something like that between ROSEBUD and SNOWGLOBE Citizen Kane-related group. Or perhaps even a group of movie MacGuffins (otherwise irrelevant elements or events used as central plot elements in fiction). PAYPAL and WIKIPEDIA, meanwhile, pointed to a group of Internet services. And all I knew KETCHUM from was Ash Ketchum, the long-time protagonist of POKÉMON.

But when I looked more closely at the words, I realized that some of them ended with alternative words for “friend.” Aha! The purples have been erased. I felt more comfortable giving this group an easier hint today as the Blues were tough. I liked these words too literally I have a friend in them so I couldn’t resist.

However, after that I had no idea. I tried to guess PARALYMPICS, HAIRSPRAY, SALAD DRESSING and SNOWGLOBE, which put me out of a group by one. I swapped SALAD DRESSING for JAZZERCISE and then HAIRSPRAY for WIKIPEDIA, but none of them gave me the “once gone” popup.

I didn’t know where to go at all, so I dropped SNOWGLOBE in favor of MAGIC 8 BALL. That was the end of my series.

The green probably should have clicked, even though I literally never buy SALAD DRESSING (oh, gross). SNOWGLOBE and MAGIC 8 BALL should have been enough to find out.

As for the blues, it feels a little mean to have two pun groups in the same game. They relate to jazz exercises, paraplegics and Olympians, pocket monsters and wiki and encyclopedia. I can imagine a lot of people will be annoyed by this group.

PS: This recently popped up in my YouTube recommendations and I really enjoyed it. It’s a live orchestral performance of one of the greatest songs of all time, “One More Time” by Daft Punk. Great thing:

I wish you a wonderful day! Call someone you love!
