O'Connor and Arnold were eliminated against the Vikings

Exactly what the Detroit Lions didn’t need: more injuries on defense.

In the Lions vs. Vikings duel in Week 18, where 1st place and much more was at stake, the Lions lost two key defensive players and a third had to leave the game.

Here’s what we know:

OL Kevin Zeitler leaves the game with a right leg injury

Lions first-year senior Kevin Zeitler left Sunday’s game late in the fourth quarter while holding his right leg.

Zeitler, a 13-year veteran, was coming off a block as the Lions tried to run out the clock and appeared to have something tweaking his knee.

Zeitler immediately seemed frustrated and left the game and was replaced by freshman Christian Mahogany.

Terrion Arnold is out with a foot injury

Rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold was carted to the locker room with a serious-looking foot injury and the team announced on social media that he was questionable.

Shortly afterwards, Arnold was ruled out for the game.

We probably won’t get another update on Arnold until after the game, but this is another devastating injury to an already struggling defense.

Pat O’Connor ruled out

Pat O’Connor, a former Eastern Michigan standout who has played a larger role since the team lost star rusher Alim McNeill, was sidelined Sunday against the Vikings with a calf injury.

It wasn’t exactly clear when or how O’Connor was injured, but the defensive lineman’s return was initially listed as questionable and then ruled out in the third quarter.

Levi Onwuzurike’s injury scare

Defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike also appeared shaken in the fourth quarter and had to leave the game, but returned a few plays later.

The Lions have 16 players on injured reserve, including defensive starters such as defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, defensive tackle Alim McNeill and cornerback Carlton Davis III. Detroit activated two players from IR this week – linebacker Alex Anzalone and receiver Kalif Raymond – and both are listed as questionable for Sunday.
