Odighizuwa and Micah Parsons lead the Cowboys’ defensive win over the Panthers

Young was sacked six times, intercepted twice and the Cowboys recovered their two forced fumbles – Parsons and Odighizuwa combined for three sacks and six quarterback hits.

The latter recorded four quarterback hits alone and continues to prove that he is one of the best defensive tackles in the entire league.

“There is still so much to play for, whether it goes well or not,” Odighizuwa said. “With that in mind, we just have to continue to approach things the same way, whether things are going well or not. There’s only one way to approach this, and that’s this Right Away.”

Even more impressive for Mike Zimmer’s defensive group is that they were able to stop Young without the help of DeMarvion Overshown, who suffered a season-ending knee injury six days earlier in the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

In his absence, others like Marist Liufau and Eric Kendricks stepped up the intensity to keep the linebacker corps effective (read: game-changing), and the front seven’s efforts were perfectly matched by a strong, if not perfect, showing from the secondary ( e.g. Jourdan Lewis’ pass to Adam Thielen was broken up, resulting in Kendricks grabbing one of the two interceptions mentioned above).

“I feel like we did a good job of playing complementary football and giving the offense as many chances as possible to get into the game,” Odighizuwa said.

Parsons completely agrees.

“We just have to keep improving. That was a good team. They gave the Eagles, the Chiefs and the Broncos a run for their money. We didn’t want to come in here and take them lightly because of the movie they put out. “We’ve just got to find ways to keep putting it together. We have (another) explosive team next week too.
