Officers Arrest Duo for Multiple Shoplifting at Christiana Mall – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police arrested the 30-year-old Rashunda Smullen and 28 years old Jerlysa Williamsboth of Wilmington, Delaware, for multiple shoplifting incidents that occurred at various stores at Christiana Mall Monday afternoon.

On December 16, 2024, at approximately 12:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shoplifting at Lens Crafters at 750 Christiana Mall in Newark. Upon arrival, officers learned that two female suspects placed several pairs of glasses in their purses and left the store with the unpaid items. Police searched the mall for the suspects and located them at a nearby store. The suspects, identified as Rashunda Smullen and Jerlysa Williams, were taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of her purses uncovered more than $5,000 worth of stolen eyeglasses, as well as other unpaid merchandise from other stores in the mall.

Further investigation led to officers identifying Smullen and Williams as the suspects responsible for a shoplifting incident at the Apple Store. Additionally, Williams was identified as a suspect responsible for shoplifting at Nordstrom and Cotton on Kids.

Smullen and Williams were taken to Troop 10 where they were both charged with multiple felonies.


Smullen was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.
