As Real Madrid will compete for their second trophy of the season in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final next week, they have finally learned their opponents for the main tournament in Qatar and the Mexican team CF Pachuca.

As winners of last season’s UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid secured a direct place in the final of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, while their opponents had to go through several rounds.

In the first round, representatives of the OFC (Oceanic Football Confederation) and the AFC (Asian Football Confederation), Auckland City and Al-Ain, met, with the latter emerging victorious.

In the second round, two games took place – in the first, the winners of the first round, namely Al-Ain, met the CAF (Confederation of African Football) representative, who received a bye, Al Ahly, who won 3-0.

The second game saw representatives from CONMEBOL (South America) and CONCACAF (North America) face off as Botafogo took on Pachuca, who emerged victorious.

Earlier today, Pachuca fought Al Ahly for a place in the final against Real Madrid, prevailing on penalties after the game ended in a goalless draw.

Now the Mexican giants will face Real Madrid at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar next Wednesday and look to be crowned the first winners of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Real Madrid’s squad list has already been released with the players who will travel to Qatar for the game. The club is even taking injured players Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao with them for the competition.
