OG Maco died of a gunshot wound at the age of 32

According to TMZ Hip-Hop, Atlanta rap star OG Maco passed away on Thursday evening (December 26) following a week-long stay at a hospital in Los Angeles, California, as a result of a gunshot wound. He was 32.

Known for his 2014 viral hit “U Guessed It,” the rap star was surrounded by his family following his death. The artist had been hospitalized since December 12 after suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

According to sources, his condition worsened after he fell into a coma and despite medical efforts, he could not be revived. During his hospital stay, doctors struggled to perform accurate brain scans and remove toxins from his body.

Family members who traveled from out of town to be at his side are devastated by the loss. False reports of Maco’s death circulated on social media in the previous days, causing confusion before his death was officially confirmed. Authorities responded to the incident earlier this month after a neighbor reported hearing gunshots. A firearm was later recovered near the scene.

Maco’s influence on hip-hop was undeniable. His breakout single “U Guessed It” not only showcased his dynamic energy, but also cemented his place in the music industry and helped propel QC Records into the spotlight. In 2015, he secured a coveted spot on the XXL Freshman list alongside notable names like Vince Staples and K Camp, cementing his reputation as an innovative force in rap.

Over the years, Maco continued to push musical boundaries and refuse to conform to traditional styles. However, his career faced major challenges due to medical problems, including a rare and debilitating flesh-eating disease, which he publicly battled. Despite these hardships, Maco remained a symbol of resilience and inspired fans with his creativity and determination.

The loss of OG Maco leaves a void in the hip hop community as artists and fans mourn the loss of a talent taken too soon. His legacy, one of bold artistry and relentless perseverance, will undoubtedly endure.
