Billie Eilish, 22, copes with the pressure of pop stardom while remaining grounded in her humanity. Known for her uncompromising style and raw lyrics, Eilish has continued to reshape the pop landscape. In a recent interview with Complex, Eilish speaks candidly about the process behind her third studio album Hit me hard and soft, and how she’s embracing songwriting like never before, producing deeply personal tracks about love, heartbreak and self-discovery.

Although her latest album is already generating Grammy buzz with six nominations, the creative process for the album was anything but easy. She describes the making of the album as “terrible,” with months of frustration and a lack of inspiration.

“It was eight or nine months without inspiration while Finneas and I were on a different frequency,” she says. Despite these challenges, the process proved valuable. “After we did ‘The Greatest,’ things got a lot better,” says Eilish, emphasizing the growth she experienced during these difficult times.

What has changed for Eilish this time? “Part of it was growing up,” she explains. With more experience and new inspiration from her personal life, she discovered a new passion for songwriting. “I really learned that I’m a lot better than I think,” she adds, revealing how this album helped her appreciate her own talent. With her latest project, Eilish appears poised to further cement her place in the music industry as an artist who isn’t afraid to push boundaries – both in her music and within herself.
