Ohio State Buckeyes HC drops defiant statement after Cotton Bowl win

The Ohio State Buckeyes once again took care of business, this time defeating the Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl. Now Ryan Day and Co. head off to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the national championship.

Day couldn’t be prouder of the way his team played tonight. Even though the game was very close and Texas was giving Ohio State a run for its money, the players stayed together and won the game in the fourth quarter.

Jack Sawyer was the hero of the evening, forcing a fumble and recovering it from 83 yards to make it 28:14. The score stayed there and the Buckeyes moved on.

It’s amazing how far Ohio State has come since losing to Michigan in the regular season finale.

At this point, fans were done with the year. They demanded Day’s job and had lost all hope for the season. The Buckeyes obviously didn’t feel that way.

Now all those negative comments are gone. Every Ohio State fan is happy once again.

After the win over the Longhorns, Day spoke up and made a defiant statement.

“This team is resilient. About a month ago, a lot of people excluded us. But these guys got to work. This team. These leaders. The captains. The staff. Everyone in the Woody believed,” he said. “That’s why I think we won the game in the fourth quarter.”

He doesn’t shoot anyone. However, he says lightly that the team felt like everyone had given up. Day is clearly proud of how his boys have stayed together.

Honestly, Day deserves a lot of credit. He also deserves an apology from a large portion of the Buckeyes fan base.

His leadership helped keep things together. Without Day at the helm, Ohio State would not be in this position. Day has truly shown why he is one of the best head coaches in college football.

Other than that, the Buckeyes still have a game left. Winning a national championship would completely silence the critics.

On January 20th, Ohio State has a chance to achieve the only goal they set for themselves for the 2024 season. It’s been a championship or bust season and they’re just one win away.
