Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith is 'NFL ready,' says Oregon's Dan Lanning

Ohio State football’s Jeremiah Smith may be a true freshman, but he has certainly been one of the best players in the College Football Playoff so far.

Smith caught seven passes for 187 yards with two touchdowns in the No. 8 Buckeyes’ 41-21 win over No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday, setting an Ohio State record for receiving yards by a freshman in one Game on. His performance increased his CFP totals to 13 catches for 290 yards with four touchdowns in two postseason games.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning even went so far as to say that Smith was already ready for the NFL, even though he was only 19 years old.

“He’s strong,” Lanning said after the game. “He attacks the ball in the air as well as any receiver I’ve ever seen. The guy is ready for the NFL. He is so talented. He’s special.”

“Will Howard did a great job tonight getting the ball to him and he’s hard to defend. He is physically strong and has all abilities. A really talented player.”
