Bijapur: A total of 13 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were found by security forces at two locations in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh during an anti-Naxal operation on Wednesday.

In a joint operation by CRPF’s 168th Battalion and Basaguda Police Team, a major Naxal attack in the district was foiled with nearly 11 IEDs planted near Gauthan Temple at Timapur in Basaguda being successfully recovered by the security forces became. Later, two IEDs weighing three kilograms each were found during a similar operation in Bandalelka Nala area.

Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) teams along with the CRPF jawans had safely removed the IEDs placed underground and neutralized the devices to prevent any possible damage. Police suspect that the IEDs were aimed at security personnel conducting search operations in the area.

It is noteworthy that a week ago, several IEDs were recovered by the security forces in Chinnageluru area of ​​Bijapur. Police said the IEDs were configured like directional bombs with a pressure switch system. In the last eight days, police have foiled three blast attempts planned by the Naxals in the district, they added.

On Monday, three Naxal leaders were arrested in Bijapur, including one carrying a bounty of Rs 100,000. The three were arrested at Pamed police station and taken into police custody.
