Thursday’s system appears to be more powerful than our light snow gun on Tuesday. The system will move southeast through Minnesota from the early hours of Thursday morning into the evening hours.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s NAM 3km model is typical of most models in terms of timing and coverage on Thursday. The following forecast model loop runs on Thursday between midnight and 6 p.m.

This system appears to be an efficient snowfall producer. It will be drier snow, likely with snow to water ratios between 15 and 20 to 1.

Forecast models continue to project impressive snowfall amounts between 3 and 7 inches, with some locally higher totals.
