OpenAI’s ChatGPT experiences an unexpected outage

This comes at a time when ChatGPT has gained quite a lot of attention and people rely on it for various tasks – from answering questions to creating original texts.

Users around the world have reported issues with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which appears to be experiencing an unexpected outage. This outage affects users attempting to access the platform through both web and mobile applications. OpenAI has identified the issue and is working on it as quickly as possible.

This comes at a time when ChatGPT has gained quite a lot of attention and people rely on it for various tasks – from answering questions to creating original texts. OpenAI has promised users that it will do everything in its power to restore service and apologizes for the inconvenience this outage has caused.

Continuous efforts to resolve the issue

At 2:00 p.m. ET, OpenAI posted an update on its status page indicating that ChatGPT, the API, and its text-to-video generator Sora are “currently experiencing high error rates.” This announcement was followed by another update at 2:18 p.m. ET that attributed the issue to an “upstream provider” and confirmed that OpenAI was actively monitoring the situation.

At 3:06 p.m. ET, OpenAI had issued another update saying it was “continuing to work on a resolution,” but no ETA was provided as to when access would be fully restored.

This is not the first time in recent months that ChatGPT has faced downtime. Just weeks after OpenAI launched Sora to ChatGPT subscribers earlier this month, both the video generation tool and ChatGPT experienced several hours of downtime. Additionally, the significant outage in June caused various AI tools, including ChatGPT.
