Orange Bowl: Greg McElroy previews Notre Dame vs. Penn State

A spot in the national championship is at stake in the Orange Bowl. Notre Dame And Penn State will compete against each other College Football Playoffs Semifinals on January 9th, just a week away. Both programs have been waiting for this moment for a long time, with only two wins left until the title.

ESPN’s Greg McElroy was in New Orleans to seal Notre Dame’s victory Georgia but decided to focus on the end of the show. He believes the Orange Bowl will be similar to what we saw in the Orange Bowl since Notre Dame and Penn State have similar makeups.

“It will be very similar to the game we saw tonight,” McElroy said. “It will be about who makes a crucial mistake because both teams are doing a great job of playing complementary football. Both teams are great defensively. Both teams have elite running back tandems. So these teams are very, very similar…It should be a fascinating matchup in Miami.”

Riley Leonard On Thursday night, he was Notre Dame’s leading rusher with 80 yards and 14 carries. Georgia did a good job containing the Irish running back tandem Jeremiyah love And Jadarian Prize combined for just 16 touches and 56 yards.

Penn State will hope to produce something similar, at least when it comes to running backs. They were facing arguably the best players in college football Boise State‘S Ashton Jeanty and will be up to the task. And on the other side, Kaytron Allen And Nicholas Singleton will be ready to rock.

Where McElroy thinks Penn State could have an advantage is in the receiving playmakers. The ESPN analyst likes the exterior of Notre Dame, but not that much Tyler Warren brings it to the table. A real game-changer at the tight end position.

“The only area where it’s different is that while Notre Dame wide receiver has a little more twitch on the outside, we all know that tight end Tyler Warren of Penn State is one of them .”

The all-time series between these two major programs is currently tied at 9-9-1. To find the last match you have to go back to 2007 as it is the last game of a home-versus-home series.

January 9th in Miami will be a great tiebreaker and easily the most important matchup they have ever played.
