Owen Wilson joins Matt Rife in Live Nation’s Rolling Loud

EXCLUSIVE: Owen Wilson will star alongside comedian Matt Rife Roll loudlyan R-rated father-son comedy set at the hip-hop festival of the same name, which is celebrating its 10th year. Written and directed by American High’s Jeremy Garelick, production begins on location at the Miami festival this weekend.

Inspired by a true story, Roll loudly It’s about an overprotective father (Wilson) who makes a bold parenting decision when he secretly smuggles his 13-year-old son into the world’s largest hip-hop music festival, setting off a chaotic adventure with his ruthless colleague (Rife) and an eccentric volunteer the festival as they navigate wild crowds, safety and their own family dynamics.

From Live Nation Productions, a division of Live Nation Entertainment, and American High, the film is produced by Garelick and Will Phelps for American High, along with Stella Bulochnikov for Pat Solitano Productions, Jolene and Doug Banker for Five All in the Fifth. Executive producers include Ryan Kroft for Live Nation Productions; Pasquale Rotella, Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif of Rolling Loud; Widespread; and Christina Shams. UTA Independent Film Group has secured worldwide rights to the film, which is scheduled to be released in cinemas next year.

Wilson comes from the second season of Disney+’s acclaimed Marvel series Lokialongside Tom Hiddleston, where he reprises his role as Time Variance Authority agent Mobius. He most recently executive produced and starred in an untitled series for Apple about his Pryce Cahill, an excessive ex-golfer who hedges his bets on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom played by Peter Dager. The comedy, written and created by Jason Keller, is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

With his recently announced Matt Rife: Stay Golden Tour, which includes two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Rife is packing venues around the globe. He also just published his first book, Your mother will love mea memoir by Simon & Schuster that immediately became a New York Times bestseller.
