Pamela Anderson says a man almost killed her after mistaking her for a member of the Chicks

Pamela Anderson was almost killed by a man who mistook her for a member of the Chicks, she revealed on a Monday episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

The incident years ago occurred on a plane, she said, explaining she was approached and approached by a man who apparently thought she was a member of the country music group. The encounter eventually led to the man being handcuffed.

“This one time I was on a flight and this guy came up to me and said, ‘Do you know what this country has done for you?'” Anderson said. “And I thought, ‘Oh my God. What have I done?'”

The Last Showgirl star went on to explain that every time she looked back at the man after the initial exchange, he glared at her. It got to the point where the man had to be restrained during the flight.

“That stewardess had to handcuff him to the chair because he tried to attack me,” she said. “Yeah. And he ended up thinking I was a Dixie Chick. Remember the whole Dixie Chick thing? I almost got killed on a plane.”

In the end, she admitted, “I was a little afraid of flying after that.”

Anderson didn’t give a year for the mixup, but based on the man’s reaction, it occurred sometime after a 2003 London concert by the country music trio (now known as The Chicks) at which frontwoman Natalie Maines greeted President George W. Bush criticized the invasion of Iraq. The comments were met with intense backlash and the group was blacklisted by much of the country music community for years.

Maines apologized for her conviction but walked it back when speaking to Time magazine in 2006.

“I apologized for disrespecting the office of president. But I don’t feel that way anymore,” she said. “I don’t feel like he’s owed any respect at all.”

In 2020, the group changed their name to simply The Chicks.
