Patriots vs. Bills: Live updates, scores, news, game details for NFL Week 18

The New England Patriots conclude the 2024 season at Gillette Stadium, while the Buffalo Bills travel to Foxboro for their second game in three weeks.

Since the Bills are the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs, Josh Allen will see limited action along with the other starters. On the New England sideline, where a loss secures the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Drake Maye will be behind center and the team will want to win.

First quarter

The Bills won the toss and put the ball in the hands of Drake Maye to start Sunday. It was a quick three-pointer after a false start and then a third-down sack by Von Miller that passed Trey Jacobs.

Josh Allen started at QB and took one snap – a handoff – before leaving the game. Mitch Trubisky took over the position behind center. Trubisky was then stuffed by consecutive short-yardage goalies, resulting in a turnover on downs.

Maye’s day ended after just one drive when Joe Milton III took over at quarterback for the first time in the regular season – he completed his first pass to Pop Douglas for 12 yards and found Douglas again to close the chains on the ensuing third-and-3 move. A finish on 3rd-and-13 then set up a 4th-and-1 with Milton himself scoring first. Milton then completed his next third-down pass to bring the ball to the one, where he then held it himself for the score. (Patriots 7-0 Bills)

Second quarter

The Bills’ offense got going behind James Cook and two completions for Mack Hollins – in addition to a rough passer penalty on Deatrich Wise. Inside the five, a third-down pass was intercepted by Mack Hollins but was nullified by Marcellas Dial. To keep the offense on the field, Trubisky’s pass to Ray Davis was intercepted for a touchdown. (Patriots 7-7 Bills)

With the football facing a 3rd-and-9 again, Milton worked to find Kayshon Boutte for a 14-yard conversion. Two plays later, Milton worked his way out of the pocket to his right before firing a ball down to his left to a wide-open bout for a 48-yard touchdown. (Patriots 14-7 Bills)
