Sony is stubbornly committed to the comedy reboot of anaconda.

The studio announced Friday that filmmaker Tom Gormican’s reimagining of the 1997 snake horror film will hit theaters on Dec. 25, 2025, in time for the holidays. Paul Rudd and Jack Black star in the new feature film from Columbia Pictures.

Gormican (The unbearable weight of enormous talent) directs the film from a script he co-wrote with Kevin Etten. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form produce for Fully Formed.

In the video below, Rudd and Black introduce the new project. “There’s going to be one hell of a snake, and it’s going to rip,” Black says of the film.

Rudd adds: “Do you want to be scared? Do you want to laugh? Do you want to celebrate with your friends? Or maybe you’re alone and sad and have no one but just want to forget about it?”

The Hollywood Reporter reported in August that the film was in development. Plot details are kept in the belly of a snake.
