“‘Peaky Blinders’ Creator Steven Knight Reveals More Beyond the Film”

The Shelbys aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Peaky Blinders Creator Steven Knight recently teased to Britain’s Times Radio that there could be other projects beyond the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters in the next year or so. Speaking to journalist Jane Mulkerrins, the screenwriter confirmed that production on the spin-off film will complete before the holidays, although a release date has not yet been set.

“It’s a little too early for that, but you can calculate that it will take about a year,” he said.

When asked if there were “plans for more.” Peaky Blinders Beyond the picture, Knight replied, “Well, it’s interesting that you ask that question because the movie is coming out and that won’t be the end of it.”

Whether it’s another series or another film, Knight remained tight-lipped: “It won’t be the end, let me put it that way. I’m not saying anything about it.”

While the BBC’s hugely popular six-season crime drama came to an end in April 2022, the series finale didn’t mark the end of Tommy Shelby’s (Cillian Murphy) story. Photos from the set began streaming online after filming began in the UK from late September. As the Oscar-winning Murphy returns to his iconic role as the leader of the Birmingham gang family, he will be joined by other stars including Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible, dune), Barry Keoghan (The banshees of Inisherin, Salt burn) and Tim Roth (pulp Fiction, Reservoir dogs). Stephen Graham, who played Hayden Stagg in the final series of the BBC series, will also star in the film.

After the series concluded, Knight teased to Deadline that the film would deal with World War II in England. Peaky itself follows the crime family into the 1920s and owes the title of the series to the gang’s practice of sewing razor blades into their hats. However, further details about the plot of the Netflix film (filmed in collaboration with the BBC) are being kept secret.
