The No. 6 Penn State Nittany Lions will play the No. 11 SMU Mustangs in the program’s first College Football Playoff game. CFP Round 1 Updates: First Half Q1 – 3:00 p.m.: SMU won the toss and moves on to the second half. Pregame Updates Uniforms The Nittany Lions will wear their Generations of Greatness uniforms in the opening round of the CFP against SMU. The uniform’s elements pay homage to bygone eras of Penn State football. The helmets have jersey numbers, the sleeves are tapered with a white stripe, the jersey numbers are in block letters, the white shorts have a blue stripe, the socks are striped, the face mask is gray and the football boots are white. Penn State fans are expected to rock Beaver Stadium with a sold-out crowd. A sellout crowd as the Penn State Nittany Lions host the SMU Mustangs in the first round of the College Football Playoff. A sellout crowd of 100,000 packs into Happy Valley for Saturday’s matchup. Fans come from all over the country, including Tennessee and New Jersey. Watch the video below. College Football Playoff Round The first round of the CFP is officially underway as Indiana takes on Notre Dame in South Bend on Friday night. After Penn State vs. SMU, Texas faces Clemson at 4 p.m., while Tennessee faces Ohio State at 8 p.m. The top four seeds in Oregon, Georgia, Boise State and Arizona State all have bye weeks.
