A tragic discovery was made on a flight from Chicago to Maui on Christmas Eve.

A United Airlines spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that a body was found in the wheel well of one of the main landing gear of a United plane upon arrival at Kahului Airport in Maui on Tuesday.

According to the United Airlines website, Flight 202 departed O’Hare Airport at 9:30 a.m. on December 24 and landed at Kahului Airport in Maui at 2:12 p.m. local time.

The airline spokesman said the wheel well was only accessible from outside the aircraft.

The aircraft was a Boeing 787-10.

“It is not clear at this time how and when the person accessed the wheel arch,” the spokesman said.

The airline added that it was cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.
