Pete Carroll wants another job as an NFL head coach

Last year, the Seahawks unceremoniously kicked head coach Pete Carroll to the curb. This year he is looking for a new NFL driver.

This is reported by Adam Schefter from ESPN.com Carroll wants to go back in. That means, frankly, that Carroll’s agent specifically told Schefter this in the hope that Schefter would put it out into the world in hopes of generating public opinion. Then Carroll’s agent will do it I have a lot to thank Schefter for.

And that is how the sausage is made.

According to the report/strategic leak, Carroll has specifically expressed interest in the Bears’ vacancy. Which obviously means nothing unless the Bears are interested in Carroll.

Given that the team’s ultimate goal (as we’ve been told) is to hire a coach who will get the best out of quarterback Caleb Williams, that will be a defensive coach whose best NFL teams have been powered by that side of the ball , most likely not be the case. Be the right guy for Williams.

Carroll could be a good fit elsewhere depending on the franchise’s specific needs and goals. He is only a year older than Bill Belichick. Unlike Belichick, Carroll actually had success without Tom Brady on his team.

It’s hard to blame Carroll’s agent for trying to use the media to publicize Carroll. That’s the agent’s job. However, it is not the job of the media to get involved Consideration PR for coaching candidates.

It’s one thing to express authentic, organic and unsolicited opinions, as we did recently when we wondered whether Brian Flores’ lawsuit against the NFL and multiple teams will stand in the way of a second chance at head coaching. It’s another thing to let “sources” pull the strings (probably just one source, but it always sounds better to make it plural) who want to scratch your back – and who may return the favor many times over become.
