Phoenix Suns introduce new starting lineup against Detroit Pistons

PHOENIX – Unfortunate circumstances have left the Phoenix Suns (14-12) once again struggling to find a five-man lineup that can stick together and be consistently productive on both ends.

Star G Devin Booker was previously ruled out of today’s matchup with the Detroit Pistons after losing midway through the third quarter against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night.

This left head coach Mike Budenholzer once again having to find a replacement in the starting lineup – and the answer to that equation was pretty simple.

The five who initiate the action against Detroit:

In Booker’s absence, Jones and O’Neale will be given a lot more responsibility – O’Neale will start for the eighth time this season, while Jones will continue his streak of success in every single game.

Beal will also be asked to take on a larger on-ball role — both to supplement the offense in the four-time All-Star’s absence and to relieve pressure on Durant, who is getting back into the swing of things after missing some time due to an ankle sprain.

Nurkic could really be an X-factor tonight – as the Pistons are very thin on defense behind starting C player Jalen Duren. This could well become a contest where a physical effort from Nurkic sets the tone for the rest of the team.

Suns-Pistons will kick off tonight shortly after 7 p.m.
