Phoenix's Kevin Durant returns, Bradley Beal is out

The Phoenix Suns (12-11) face the Utah Jazz (5-18) on Friday, airing on Arizona’s Family (Chapter 3 TV) at 7:30 p.m

This is the Suns’ fourth straight road game and the second of their four-game series against the Jazz this season.

Kevin Durant returns after missing the last 3.5 games with a left ankle sprain. But Bradley Beal was unable to participate due to swelling in his right knee. He was listed as questionable just hours before the Suns-Jazz game.

Beal’s absence delays Phoenix’s Big 3 reunion between Devin Booker, Durant and Beal. The Suns are on a three-game losing streak without Durant and are currently in 10th place in the Western Conference standings.

Led by forwards Lauri Markkanen and John Collins, the struggling Jazz are in 14th place in the West and have lost six of their last seven games.

Starting lineups

The Suns start Tyus Jones and Devin Booker in the backcourt, with Royce O’Neale replacing Beal, Durant and Jusuf Nurkic in the middle.

The Jazz opens with Keyonte George, Collin Sexton, Markkanen, Collins and Walker Kessler taking center stage.

Nurkic from the Suns returns

Phoenix’s starting center Jusuf Nurkic is available after missing the team’s last five games with a bruised right thigh.

Utah’s Markkanen (injury management) was upgraded from questionable to available, and the same goes for Jordan Clarkson (left plantar fasciitis), who is now in the mix. Shooting guard Svi Mykhailiuk (groin) and forward Taylor Hendricks (right leg, ankle surgery) are out.
