Piers Morgan loses his temper during Healthcare CEO shooting debate

Piers Morgan lost out during a heated debate about his “Uncensored” show, insulted guest Taylor Lorenz.

Lorenz, a former Washington Post And Daily Beast The reporter was on the show Monday to defend controversial social media posts that appeared to celebrate the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Lorenz, now podcaster for Vox MediaAccording to NBC, she admitted to the panel that her reaction to the murder was “joy.”

She said she “unfortunately felt joy like so many other Americans” after last Wednesday’s shooting outside a New York City hotel.

“Why are you so solemn about the execution of another human being?” Morgan asked the journalist, sparking a heated debate.

When pressed, she retracted her statement, saying, “Maybe not joy, but certainly not compassion.”

Lorenz tells Morgan at one point: “Don’t say I’m happy.”

“You said you felt joy,” Morgan replies.

“Yes, I take that back. “Joy is the wrong word here,” she admits. “I pointed out that it was celebratory because it felt like justice in this system.”

Lorenz advocates for Americans who have been denied life-saving health care by insurance companies like UnitedHealthcare, she said. According to Fox, the company was indeed faced with claims of high rejection rates and used AI software to reject some. The 26-year-old Ivy League graduate arrested in the murder, Luigi Mangione, reportedly expressed his own frustration with the health care industry in a manifesto he carried.

The situation escalated when Republican commentator Tomi Lahren criticized Lorenz for “celebrating” Thompson’s killing and criticized liberals for their belief in “political violence.”

At this point, Morgan snapped at Lorenz, who seemed to be grinning throughout the interview. “Taylor, I don’t mean to be rude, but why the hell are you laughing all the time?” Morgan jumped in. “I don’t understand it. Sorry, I apologize for my language, but honestly I find it unbelievable. What are you laughing about?”

Defending herself, she replied: “I’m laughing at Tomi’s insane misrepresentation of why people are angry. We do not believe that this healthcare system is once again murdering thousands of innocent Americans who, by the way, Tomi, also have families and children. These people are being killed by our barbaric and evil for-profit healthcare system.”

She added that the problem of entitlement denial is “systemic” and said it will only be solved if “Brian or whoever is in charge of these companies stops murdering tens of thousands of innocent Americans.”

On X-Tuesday, Lorenz said reports that she said she “felt joy” were false. She wrote: “I absolutely never said I was happy about the murder. I have made it very clear that I am pleased that the wealthy elite professionals like Piers and other multi-millionaires in the media and politics are being forced to confront the barbaric nature of our healthcare system.”

She added: “The CEO was a murderer and I feel no sadness at his death. But the media would rather misrepresent my very clear words and stoke outrage than confront the fact that many of us are overjoyed that these millionaire pundits are being forced to acknowledge the suffering of Americans.”
