Playoff odds for each team

With four weeks left in the regular season, half of the league’s fan base is looking forward to the playoffs. Meanwhile, the other half is up to its elbows in mock drafts and tankathons to see the order of drafts at the conclusion of each game.

Four teams have secured playoff spots: The Kansas City Chiefs (12-1) and Buffalo Bills (10-3) won their AFC West and AFC East divisions, respectively. In the NFC, the Detroit Lions (12-1) and the Philadelphia Eagles (11-2) have secured the playoff spots.

The Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals will close out Week 14 with “Monday Night Football.” The result provides more clarity to the playoff picture as we approach the postseason.

Either your team is fighting to get there or fighting to stay healthy enough to get there. The NFL season often comes down to a battle of attrition, and some teams, like the San Francisco 49ers, are losing that battle in 2024. Like the standings, the playoff odds are taking shape. Remarkable NFL playoff odds

While four teams secured a spot in the playoffs, seven teams were eliminated.

Of the seven playoff spots in each conference, five in the NFC and AFC are waiting to be claimed. There are 13 teams still in the race for these five spots in the NFC and eight in the AFC.

If you’re looking at the list of teams and wondering which ones have the best spots to secure a playoff spot, look no further than the Falcons (6-7) in the NFC. Atlanta has been the favorite to win the NFC South for most of the season, but they still have a lot of work to do to get back into the playoffs.

The Falcons have suffered four straight losses after a 6-3 start to the season, but a later schedule could catapult them into the final NFC wild-card spot. Atlanta is given odds of (+150) or an implied 40% chance of making the playoffs. Their final four games are against the Raiders, Giants, Commanders and Panthers. Washington (8-5) sits in seventh place in the NFC playoff standings, making their Week 17 clash potentially a make-or-break scenario. Kirk Cousins has struggled over the last month and rumors are speculating whether the team will turn to rookie Michael Penix Jr., but the stars could be aligned for Cousins to be cut by the team that drafted him.

The AFC is more compact, with eight teams fighting for the final five spots. The Bengals (4-8) are a team to watch, and they check in at +1600 to make the playoffs, or an implied chance of 5.9%. The Bengals need to win their last five games, and it all starts tonight against the Cowboys on “Monday Night Football.” The Bengals are one of the most interesting teams in the NFL in 2024. Their top offense is firing on all cylinders behind an MVP-caliber season from Joe Burrow, but their defense has been an atrocity. The Bengals have scored the fifth-most points per game (27.9) but allowed the second-most (28.3). However, their remaining schedule against the Cowboys, Titans, Browns, Broncos and Steelers is attractive. The final spot in the AFC playoffs likely won’t be awarded until Week 18 and the Steelers could rest their starters.

The Broncos hold the final AFC spot but face potential problems in the final three weeks of the season with the Chargers, Bengals and Chiefs closing in on them.

Back in the NFC, Tampa is rebounding with the return of Mike Evans and seeking a fourth straight NFC South title. The Chargers are on the road next week, but they will likely be the favorite in their final three games against the Cowboys, Panthers and Saints. The Bucs are in a good position to win the NFC South.

The NFC West is now the most crowded division in the league. All four teams are alive and within two games of each other. Seattle leads the division, but the surging Rams, who just beat the Bills, are above the Seahawks in the current tiebreaker. The Rams and 49ers will be able to stake their claim as Seattle’s top contenders in Week 15 when the two meet on “Thursday Night Football.” Seattle has matchups with the Packers and Vikings on board that, if they slip up, could open the door to the NFC West crown.
