Plowable snow threatens inland Massachusetts from Wednesday night to Thursday – Boston News, Weather, Sports

Many of us will be getting our first plowable snow of the season in Massachusetts this week! For many others, however, this storm will only bring rain.

It will be cold again tonight into Wednesday morning. Low temperatures will drop to the upper teens and lower 20s, with a few clouds. Wednesday will start out bright, but you will notice clouds increasing throughout the day ahead of the storm. Highs will be milder in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Most of the rain and snow will last until just before bedtime Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather warning starting at 8 p.m. that night.

The rain and snow line will wrap around the 495 and 95 corridors Wednesday evening and continue into the day Thursday. Snowfall will occur across central Massachusetts, particularly at higher elevations. In eastern and southeastern Massachusetts it will be primarily a rain event.

The commute to work on Thursday morning will be chaotic if you’re coming from an area with snow. So plan ahead. While most of the snow will continue into Thursday morning, there could be a few more rain and snow showers during the afternoon hours.

Highs will vary widely from the 30s inland to the 40s in southeastern Massachusetts. Ultimately, the Worcester Hills will see the most snowfall.

It also gets windier as the day goes on, making it feel colder than it actually is.

By Thursday evening most of us will be dry. Be prepared for an even bigger cooldown at the end of this storm.

Friday morning temperatures will be in the upper teens and lower 20s, while afternoon highs will struggle to get above freezing. The bigger problem will be the wind, which will make it feel like it’s in the teens and 20s all day.

Saturday morning will see temperatures dip into the teens for everyone with highs in the low to mid 30s. It won’t be as windy, but it will still be a cool day. Skies will be partly sunny. There is a low chance of some severe weather Saturday evening. Sunday: Partly sunny and warming into the upper 30s and lower 40s. Monday will be mild in the mid 40s and we have a chance for some snow, mixed and rain Monday evening. Tuesday will warm into the upper 40s and lower 50s, bringing a chance of rain for most and a more mixed temperature for others.
