Police: 1 dead, 1 injured in shooting after car stopped at Wawa gas station in southwest Miami-Dade – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

SOUTHWEST OF MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – Miami-Dade homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured Sunday evening.

Just after 9:15 p.m., police received a ShotSpotter alert near Southwest 265th Street and 138th Court.

“Multiple people shot, 11200 Southwest 248th Street,” a dispatcher said via Broadcastify’s police scanner. “Possibly shot in the neck and outer torso area (inaudible).”

According to authorities, officers were at the scene for hours looking for clues.

“Units arrived on scene and searched the area for victims or evidence, but were unable to locate any evidence at this time,” Miami-Dade Police said. Andrew Martin.

Around 9:52 p.m., a passerby called officers near a Wawa gas station at Southwest 112th Avenue and Southwest 248th Street to report that two men in a vehicle had suffered gunshot wounds.

“A good Samaritan flagged down nearby officers and informed them that there were gunshot victims in the vehicle. Officers immediately went to that vehicle and attempted to render aid to the victims. Unfortunately, one of these victims was pronounced dead at the scene,” Martin said.

One victim was transported to Jackson South Medical Center in critical but stable condition, police said.

Officials identified the deceased victim as 37-year-old JD Jones Jr.

Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and did not occur at the gas station.
