Potentially severe weather is forecast for the Carolinas, with potentially damaging winds and strong thunderstorms

(EXACT WEATHER) – Good evening and have a nice Saturday! It was a wet and dreary day in the Carolinas with rain showers lasting all day.

On Sunday we’ll be watching for potential severe weather across the Carolinas as a second storm system moves into the region. Sunday is a day of precise weather warnings due to possible storms. The last few days of 2024 will be mild before our next blast of cold air moves in.

As for tonight and your Sunday, we expect more scattered showers and generally foggy conditions this evening and overnight, with temperatures remaining steady in the upper 40s.

On Sunday we expect a series of strong thunderstorms in the late morning into the afternoon. Some of these storms could be severe, with strong and damaging winds as the primary threat, but we cannot rule out a tornado. Storms should dissipate by sunset and afternoon hours will be in the low to mid 60s.

The last few days of the year will be relatively mild as these storm systems will not let in any fresh cold air this weekend. Highs on Monday and Tuesday should be in the low 60s, and while Monday will be dry, scattered showers are possible for any festivities you have planned for your New Year’s Eve as our next cold front moves in. Behind the front lies the new year will start cooler, with highs in the 40s expected for the second half of the week!

In the meantime, please have a way to receive weather alerts for Sunday! Have a great night!
