Predicting the next NBA trades after Dorian Finney-Smith’s deal with the Lakers

The NBA world saw a blockbuster move on Sunday morning as the Los Angeles Lakers acquired veteran wing defenseman Dorian Finney-Smith and guard Shake Milton from the Brooklyn Nets. Finney-Smith was one of the hottest names on the trade market ahead of next spring’s deadline, and with him no longer on the field, opposing teams will have to pivot.

Not many expected a deal of this magnitude to happen at the time, but the Lakers wanted to improve their chances moving forward. This signals that they are real players and still have the potential to make further moves.

But what else can we expect before the February 6 trading deadline? Here’s a prediction of the next few trades that will happen in the NBA.

Nets rebuild continues trade forward Cameron Johnson

After moving on from Finney-Smith, the Nets will now turn their attention to moving on from Johnson. There has been talk of Brooklyn trading fullback Cam Thomas, but he is reportedly loved by the owners. It’s likely the Nets will hang on to him and he can help get the rebuild going.

Brooklyn has accumulated a lot of draft picks in recent years and could get even more with a Johnson deal. Teams like the Memphis Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks and others could all be in on the potential to land the forward.

Kings add to their roster, don’t trade De’Aaron Fox

The Sacramento Kings were in the headlines recently for firing head coach Mike Brown. Throughout the drama, there have also been rumors surrounding star guard De’Aaron Fox.

However, the Kings love Fox and he loves being with Sacramento. The Kings will likely look to add more to their current team instead of tearing things down. Someone like Kyle Kuzma of the Washington Wizards could make sense here.

Nuggets cause a sensation, get All-Star for the playoff push

The Nuggets have looked around the league for more firepower for their current team. That includes them looking into trade talks for some All-Star players.

Denver wants to become a real title contender again, and adding more talent is the way to go. The Nuggets will add another star, possibly Zach LaVine or Jimmy Butler, to give them a better chance in the playoffs.

The Bulls finally make Nikola Vucevic a candidate

The Chicago Bulls have been trying to rebuild for several years. However, after they traded guard Alex Caruso last offseason, the path became clearer.

One of the biggest talents they have is center Nikola Vucevic, and he could easily help a contender. Teams like the Memphis Grizzlies, Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers or Indiana Pacers could make sense here.

Trail Blazers move multiple veterans in separate deals

The Trail Blazers are one of the more interesting teams before the trade deadline. They have a few veteran pieces that could be moved like Jerami Grant, Robert Williams III, Anfernee Simons and even Deandre Ayton.

Now is the time for Portland to move one, if not all, of these players. Teams like the Lakers, Mavericks, Rockets, Magic and others could be involved here.
