College football bowl season heads to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee, featuring the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Red Raiders will play in the Liberty Bowl after an 8-4 season. Unfortunately, Texas Tech will be without quarterback Behren Morton, who is out due to shoulder surgery. Morton had an impressive season, throwing for 3,335 yards with 27 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Freshman Will Hammond is expected to start in his place for the Red Raiders.

The Razorbacks did not have the season expected, finishing the regular season with a record of 6-6. One of their notable highlights was a massive upset win against Tennessee at home. Quarterback Taylen Green is a standout player for the Razorbacks. He passed for 2,813 yards and 13 touchdowns while throwing just nine interceptions. He also rushed for 521 yards and scored seven touchdowns.

Adam Rittenberg writes: “The venue favors Arkansas, which should have a significant attendance advantage at the stadium, best known as the Liberty Bowl. But Texas Tech played better across the board, winning three of its last four games and scoring a total of 108 points.” However, the final two are replacing their two main coordinators and could be without star running back Tahj Brooks. The teams played every year from 1957 to 1991 before Arkansas dropped out. The Southwest Conference dropped its final three SEC regular-season games and several players dropped out, including Andrew Armstrong, the SEC’s leading receiver. But the Hogs will do enough to win their second straight Liberty Bowl under coach Sam Pittman.

Tahj Brooks is the best player in this game, especially in the Red Raiders backfield. The difference, however, is that Arkansas has a slightly better defense and they haven’t been impacted by the transfer portal as much as the Red Raiders. This game will come down to which team can get more stops and I think this team does as well Arkansas. The Razorbacks win and win the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.
