Our football betting expert Jones Knows is back to give his insight into the Premier League and thinks Man Utd will be overlooked when betting against Newcastle.

Aston Villa v Brighton, Monday 7.45pm

In games like this it makes sense to support Brighton as underdogs. The type of striker they like to recruit tends to thrive in transition but struggles when it comes to breaking a low block. Scoring just one goal from 67 shots in home games against Brentford, Southampton and Ipswich this season tells you everything you need to know about how insecure Brighton’s strikers are when it comes to finishing.

But although Fabian Hurzeler’s side are now winless in six games, they have beaten Bournemouth, Man City, Newcastle, Tottenham and Man Utd this season and drawn against Arsenal, where the opposition gives them more scope. At 5/6 with Sky Bet they are one of the card’s best bets for the double chance at Villa Park.

Ipswich v Chelsea, Monday 7.45pm

Ipswich have now lost five of their last six games – only Southampton (2) have taken fewer points in that period. Things are getting rather bleak for them.

Confidence appears to have been shaken in the final third as the free-flowing, flexible attacking patterns we saw in the Sky Bet Championship last season are a distant memory. They have only scored two or more goals in four of their 18 games this season and have failed to score in four of their last six games. Omari Hutchinson’s form has completely waned while Liam Delap is now living on leftovers.

A Chelsea nil win at 7/4 on Sky Bet looks like a good way to increase the overall price for an away win.

RESULT PREDICTION: 0-2

Manchester United vs Newcastle, Monday, 8pm, live on Sky Sports

I’m going against the grain here and remain quite optimistic about Manchester United’s prospects under this manager, particularly from a defensive perspective. The structure and organization is much safer than under Erik ten Hag and can lead to positive results if confidence returns and Bruno Fernandes is no longer sent off.

The expected goal numbers suggest that Ruben Amorim’s influence is already stabilizing them slightly, even if the results make it hard to believe that.

The market has moved too much towards the untrustworthy Toon, who have just three away wins in their last 10 games in all competitions and were beaten 3-2 by Ten Hag’s side at Old Trafford last season. I’ll put on my crash helmet and advise Man Utd on the draw no-bet at 10/11 on Sky Bet, without any confidence based on price alone.

Brentford v Arsenal, Wednesday, 5.30pm

Thomas Frank lost two more key players from his Brentford backline in the stubborn draw at Brighton, bringing the total number of injured players to 11. Such exhaustion will take effect sooner or later, and this is where the tide could turn.

Arsenal, without garnering much plaudits, appear to be back at full speed in terms of games won. Declan Rice’s return to form may have something to do with it – he has looked more like himself in recent weeks and is a major goal threat in midfield.

He scored once in the win at Palace and came close with two goals in the comfortable 1-0 win over Ipswich. The 18/1 on him to score first on Sky Bet is too high. Support it.
