Premier League Predictions: Chris Sutton vs Bank of Dave 2 Stars Rory Kinnear and Dave Fishwick

I have great admiration for Manchester United’s performance in the FA Cup win against Arsenal, particularly for holding on for an hour with ten men after Diogo Dalot was sent off.

But these next three games, at home against Southampton, Brighton and then Rangers, are a very different test for them to their trips to the Emirates Stadium and Anfield last week.

I don’t want to devalue what United did against Arsenal or Liverpool, but they were games where you didn’t expect to get results.

We know United are good on the counterattack away from home, but against Saints at Old Trafford the onus is on them to take the game to their opponents.

That’s exactly where they’ve been struggling lately and as I said on Sunday night at 606, it would be just like Manchester United, being flat, finding things difficult and losing more points.

Southampton under Ivan Jurica is very different to the way they played under the previous manager Russell Martin because now they just look forward most of the time and are much more direct.

The Saints could go into this game with some confidence after beating Championship side Swansea in the FA Cup, ending a run of 12 games without a win dating back to early November.

I still believe United will find a way to win, but I’m not so sure it will be completely routine.

I liked the way they defended against Arsenal and I thought Ruben Amorim made that very clear when he spoke afterwards and talked about that desired aspect.

He talked about traits that one would hope would be pretty fundamental for any team – the ability to fight and fight for a result.

United have shown that they can do that, now they have to prove their quality too.

Sutton’s prediction: 2:0

Rory’s prediction: I watched United’s last home game against Newcastle and they were absolutely terrible. However, I still can’t imagine them not beating Southampton. 2:0

Dave’s prediction: United had so much control that I think they will get a decent win. 3-1
